The aim of this study was to explain the essence and the quality of artistic education from the perspective of Roy Baskar's critical realism integrated approach. To this end, the following two questions were investigated: 1) what is the integrated approach to art? 2) How artistic education can be implemented from the integrated perspective? These questions were answered through analytical and inferential method. Regarding the first research question, the results of the study indicated that the integrated approach to art according to Baskar's approach means field and interdisciplinary applications. That is, designing the course along the lines of the art's approach to goals, rules and principles, and the applications which indicate the relationship between art course and other disciplines, fields and different life dimensions. Therefore, art course should pay attention to the inherent features of art, the rules for creating a work of art, and the instruction of individual, moral, religious, and social applications of art. Regarding the second research question, the findings suggested that it is necessary to reinvestigate the main components of education such as the teacher, the student, materials, and the methods of evaluation according to the integrated approach. The teacher should be familiar with art philosophy, art applications, and the rules for creating a work of art. The student should be encouraged to create a work of art based on the rules and principles of art. The content should be centered on the fundamental, mediatory, and subsidiary levels. And, the evaluation should be based on the mastery of these levels by students.

This research aimed to improve students’ learning about the first order equation based on their misconceptions on this topic. A test consists of 45 questions was designed according to the goal-content’s table concerning Bloom’s taxonomy. Then it was run on 30 students in the first year of high school in Pakdasht city. By using difficulty coefficient, distinction coefficientand internal consistencycoefficients, 26 questions (α=0.872) remained that showed questions have reliability and compliance with instructional objectives. With cluster sampling 127 students were selected and participated in the final test. Then by analyzing the results a learning empirical model was developed. Data analysis with using structural equations modeling showed that the total effect of the ‘equation identifying’ on ‘equation solving’ and ‘equations equivalence’ is t= 2.439 and t=2.307, respectively (p<0.05). The ‘equation identifying’ enhances the components ‘equation solving’ and ‘equations equivalence’ in the learner. The total effect of the ‘equation identifying’ and ‘equation solving’ on forming knowledge of ‘application’ is t=2.600 and t=3.215, respectively (p<0.01). Therefore, these two components assist students in learning application of this subject.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effective factors in quantitative development of higher education privatization in Iran. To attain the objectives of this research, a twenty four item questionnaire was used. The reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was calculated by "Cronbach's Alpha" and estimated about 0.67. A total of 103 higher education specialists and practitioners of nonprofit higher education institutions responded to the questionnaire. They were selected by means of purposive sampling and random sampling. The Chi-square and Friedman's tests were used to analyze the data. The results indicated that the main effective factors of expansion of higher education in Iran are: increased demands for higher education, inability or lack of willingness of the government to respond to the growing demand for higher education due to absence of funds, demographic changes in higher education applicants, emphasis on higher education privatization in macro development plans and policies, reduced Government’s interventions and the necessity of higher education development and structural reform in this sector.

This study aimed at study investigating the relationship between teachers' tolerance and their preferred teaching styles. The population of research comprised the high school teachers of Mashhad City in the 2010-2011 academic years and the sample included 110 teachers. The sample completed "tolerance" and "teaching styles" questionnaires. After data analysis, the research results showed that the tolerance of teachers is not linked to their preferred teaching styles. It was also construed that the tolerance of teachers had a moderate level and the preferred teaching styles was active teaching style. Based on the results, it is suggested that the in service teacher training program more attention should be paid to the doctrines of humanism. It is also suggested that other researchers should focus on the causes of tolerance and its relation to other issues in the field of the education.

The purpose of this paper is to reflect on the requirements in teachers' professional competencies in correspondence to worldwide social, information and communication technology developments and the effect that this development had on the curriculum. If we are trying to reduce the gap between the intended curriculum, the taught curriculum and experienced curriculum, it is necessary to pay attention to the hidden and neglected curriculum in our educational system. Current and emerging social facts and developments in digital world constitute considerable aspects of the hidden and neglected curriculum and effective on three curriculum types mentioned above. Since teachers are the key factor contributing to the success of curriculum, specially intended curriculum, they need the appropriate competencies to make these changes. Understanding these competencies can provide the basis for reflection on teacher training curricula. The methodology of this study is a survey involving a review – analysis and the author has applied her long-term experience as an educator in teacher education domain to enrich the theoretical aspects of study. The main topics of this study are organized in two sections: In the first section, features of curricula influenced by global social and ICT developments are reviewed, and in the second part teachers' professional competencies in accordance with these developments are reviewed. The findings of this study indicate teachers' professional competencies in two areas: professional competencies in accordance with knowledge of curriculum and practice of curriculum, each of which consists of several professional components and are illustrated in the form of a diagram.

The main purpose of this study was introducing threshold concepts and their status in disciplines, and then introducing these concepts as a new horizon for research in curriculum. Threshold concepts theory was initially introduced by Mayers & Land in 2003. This theory is endorsed by troublesome knowledge, variation and reconstructivist theories. Threshold concepts provide requirements for deep understanding of disciplinary knowledge. Without learning these concepts, learners will be unable to learn effectively. Mayers and Land have proposed different criteria for identifying threshold concepts, with the help of them, we can identify the concepts in curriculum. Threshold concepts are expected to help teachers to develop significant changes in curriculum. Research in threshold concepts was initially conducted in higher education. Since the learners’ previous experiences play an important role in studies around identifying threshold concepts, the phenomenological research method has been used in most of these studies. Also, to solve teaching and learning problems arisen from these concepts, instructors, teachers, and researchers are recommended to use methods such as action research and lesson study.

With the incidence of wars between Iran and Russia at Fath-Ali-Shah’s reign, and the frequent defeats of the Qajar’s army, the Iranian politicians, statesmen, and the elite. Had to face the questions concerning the causes of those defeats: tried hard to find answers to those qiestopms. Abbas Mirza and his wise Chancellor, Ghaem Magham, were concerned with the situation more than others. Their efforts led to the decision of sending students to the West. Upon the failure of that action the next Iranian Chancellor, Amir Kabir, decided to take new measures. After deliberating about the causes of the defeats and evaluatiny the short comings that brought about those defeays, he decided to establish Dar- Alfonoon (a polytechnic college) in ehran. This was intended to replace the act of sending students to the West for studey. Amir had come to the conclusion that, compared to Europe, the reason for the failure and backwardness of Iran were due to the weakness of Iran in the field of military industry and other crafts.
